Piece of Cake!

I made this invitation for a bridal shower. I like to make the invitations match the person they are for. The bride to be is a cosmopolitan kinda girl so I thought this fit well. Let me know what you think.

Illustrations for LaTeen

IF- Horizon

So..... here is my illustration for this weeks Illustration Friday Word-O-the-Week "horizon". This is an illo. I did for my daughter's school for a postcard exhibit---thing. The scene is of a girl set in the time of the St. Louis World's Fair (1904), thus the ice cream. The horizon behind her is what the Mississippi and the Eads bridge looked like at that time. Okay, all that is to say. I hope you like it and Merry Christmas!!!

IF- Backwards

Poor little snow guy has a cold. The force of his sneezes sends him backwards. I painted snowflakes coming from his mouth when he sneezed but the scanner didn't pick them up. You all are creative, so just imagine they are there. Anyways, I thought a snowman with a cold was kinda cute.

IF- Little Things

The little things in life often hold the most joy. They are also easier to hold in your hand and treasure. Here's to a life filled with "Little Things"!

IF- Excess

Yes, you guessed it.. I'm going for "Excessive Cuteness". We've got a curly haired girl, polk-a-dots, a huge balloon, and a black and white dog. It doesn't get more cuter than that folks!

IF-Zoo

I made a zoo for the birds for this weeks Illustration Friday. Let me know if my piece is a little too "flighty". (I know "Gong!")

The Rug

Okay, so it has been a while since I posted but I wanted you all to see what I've been up to. I made this rug for a friend of mine. It is a canvas floor cloth. I had so much fun making this! I'll post the other projects I've been working on a little bit later. They are Christmas presents, so I have to wait till they are given. I don't spoil the surprise. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. Feel free to post what you are thankful for, and any comments you have on the rug. Gobble Gobble!

Sometimes I wonder who the candy is really for. I've actually seen people go trick-or-treating with there infant.

For my illustration of "Open" I painted a woman who is floating free, not bound by her clothing, and not restricted by time. She is "Open".

IF- The Blues

"The Blues" is an awesome housing development where Phebe's friend Coli lives.

Can't we all just gather flowers today?

Don't you just have those days? Those days when just meandering around town, walking in a park, or just doing a lot of nothing sounds good? .......Yeah! Me too. This illustration is about the craving for one of those days. The only problem with those days is that usually by around 11am, or so, I feel lazy, and not in a good way. I look back at what I've done, think about all the times I wish I had more time to finish things, and am rather disgusted at the fact that I just wasted a perfectly viable morning for getting things done. So... after such a relaxing, doing nothing sort of morning, I spend the rest of the day feeling guilty and rushing around making up for those lost hours. Perhaps I should have drawn this girl dancing around madly trying finish about ten projects. No... then I'd just say, "This is a typical day but ...don't you just have those days? Those days when just meandering around town, walking in a park, or just doing a lot of nothing sounds good?" And it would start the whole discussion up again thus wasting your precious blog reading time. Sorry about that!

I've always been a nature freak, so here's an illustration I made for the Illustration Friday word -o-the week "wedding". This girl is wedding a tree. I guess you could call her a "tree hugger!" ( and I've got plenty more bad jokes were that came from)
